Recreational Foothills Hockey - Home

The Canmore Recreational Foothills Hockey Program is a "no-hit" hockey program designed for boys and girls of various skating and hockey skills aged 11-13 and 14-16.  Kids enrolled in this program will have a minimum of one (1) hour a week of indoor practice and play up to eight (8) home games plus up to eight (8) away games.

The teams will participate in the Foothills Recreational Hockey League (FRL).  The Foothills Recreational Hockey League (FRL) was developed 15 years ago in partnership between the communities of Bragg Creek, Cochrane, Millarville and Priddis.  The FRL hockey season is 16 weeks long.  All games are played on Saturday, with approximately 8 games played in Canmore and 8 games played in the other communities during the season.   Some of the games are played on outdoor ice rinks which is always fun for the kids and parents.  Playing and watching games outdoors reminds all of us what the true spirit of hockey is about.

Our vision is to give boys and girls in the community with widely varying hockey abilities an equal (fair play) opportunity to enjoy hockey in a "non-contact" family-based environment supportive for learning new skills.  The spirit of the Foothills Recreational Hockey League is to have fun, support each other as we  play hockey, coach or referee and develop good sportsmanship skills.  An important objective includes maintaining a strong focus on family by scheduling games on the same day for the different age groups.  This makes it easier for all to join the fun.
