Volunteer Positions

Canmore Minor Hockey Associations relies on volunteers to create an affordable and successful program. If you are considering taking on a volunteer role, we can't thank you enough! Below is a list of currently vacant volunteer positions. If you are interested in one of the following jobs, please let us know by emailing volunteer@canmorehockey.org.

The following positions are currently the priority for CMHA:

RHL Governor

The RHL requires that each Association provides one RHL Governor for the 2023-2024 Season.

A Governor is a volunteer who should be someone who has respect for the game of hockey and is prepared to become comfortable with interpreting written guidelines that are in place. See RHL Operating and Game Procedures on the RHL website.

The Governor must be a bipartisan volunteer who is available for calls or emails and willing to volunteer a small amount of time to aid the League's Executive in facilitating and directing association coaches and managers.

Complaints Coordinator

As requested by the CMHA Board of Directors, the Complaints Coordinator will be asked to facilitate the resolution of complaints that have been escalated beyond the standard complaints process.

Equipment Coordinator

The two Equipment Coordinators will ensure that the CMHA locker room is organized prior to the start of the 2023-2024 season. Assisting team managers with jersey distribution in late Sept/early Oct and the procurement of necessary team supplies (pucks/first aid kits, goalie gear, etc).

Team Tourney Coordinator

The Team Tournament Coordinator can assist in finding out-of-town tournaments for teams as well as assisting CMHA's Tournament Coordinators with home tournament duties.

Team Manager

The Team Manager is ultimately responsible for the day to day running of a given team. Often, this requires delegating to others for specific tasks such as managing jerseys. More information can be found on the Manager Information page.

Team Head Coach

The Head Coach is responsible for the players and everything that happens on ice. More information can be found on the Coach Information page.

Casino Volunteer

The next casino is slated for early 2026. We will need approximately 40 people to fulfill the requirements. Positions include General Manager, Banker, Cashier, Chip Runner, Countroom Supervisor and Countroom.

As the season progresses, the following roles will also be available:

Committee Member

The CMHA Board of Directors will look to create some committees for this season. We will send committee opportunities to the membership via email as they arise.

Team Assistant Coach

Assistant Coaches (maximum of 4) will support the head coach for both practices and games.

Tournament - Time clock

Running the clock during a game. U7 and U9 tournament games are two hours in length.

Tournament - Scorebook

Completing the scoresheet during a game. Scoresheet duties are only required for U11-U18 Division tournaments.

Tournament - Raffle Table

Handling sales at the raffle table.

Tournament - 50/50

Responsible for engaging patrons at games to purchase 50/50 tickets.

Tournament - Music

Playing music at U11-U18 tournament games, suitable for the age group on the ice.

Tournament - Penalty Box

Penalty Box volunteers will only be used when all other positions are filled. We will ask visiting teams to step in if needed.

Tournament - Boards

CMHA has boards in both arenas and the job requires some heavy lifting. Boards are taken apart and moved during the floods of U7 and U9 tournaments and then set up before the next set of games. 4 volunteers are required at a time.

Team Jersey Manager

Each team will need to have 1-2 jersey coordinators. These volunteers will be responsible for washing and distributing jerseys for games.

Team Volunteer Manager

The Team Volunteer Manager is responsible for two main jobs. The first is to coordinate volunteer efforts at the team level, ensuring that all game-day tasks (including tournaments) have been assigned. The second is to perform data entry, and capture team level volunteer credits as they are earned by members.

Team Data Entry

Each U11-U18 team will need to provide a data entry volunteer to complete the home game sheet entries to the leagues.

Game Volunteers

Home games require volunteers on time clock, scorebook, penalty box, and usually music.
