You may notice a few new signs around the Canmore Rec Centre next time you visit! As organizers of events in the province, Alberta Health Services is requiring that we assist with contact tracing in the event a COVID-19 case is traced back to the Recreation Centre.
That means we need to know who's on site attending any of our events, including practices, games, power skating and clinics.
Please use the QR code located on signage around the Recreation Centre to sign in if you will be staying to spectate for longer than 15 minutes, or
Yes, so long as you are staying for a minimum of 15 minutes. If you are just dropping off and/or picking up your player, you don't need to complete the form.
No - only one person in your group needs to complete the form. In the event that Alberta Health Services requires contact tracing, the person who completed the form will be asked for contact information for the others in your party.
You can either complete the form twice, or mark you will be in the Rec Centre for 6+ hours. This will ensure that you are contacted in the event a case is traced to the Rec Centre during either of the practices you attend.
Yes please. We would rather have the information late, than not at all! Just be as accurate about your arrival time as possible.
No, in the event a case is traced to the Rec Centre, all players, coaches and other registered helpers, on-ice trainers, etc. will be contacted so you don't need to include your player. In this case, we will assume every person on the team was present, and it will be up to players and/or parents to confirm if the player was absent at that time during the tracing process.
There is no specific limit per player, however we are limited to no more than 50 spectators per ice slot as of November 4, and that number may change at any time (which will be mandated by the province and/or the Town of Canmore). Therefore, we hope that families will use good judgement when deciding who will spectate. Keep in mind our visiting team spectators are included in the 50 person cap, most of whom will be driving their players some distance to attend so it would be unfortunate to have to ask them to wait outside during the game if we have too many people in the rink. We will be monitoring attendance over the next few months to ensure we are consistently below the threshold.
Let your team manager know.
At this time, the requirement to complete the form is exclusive to Town of Canmore facilities. This could change as the season progresses, but how each facility operates during the pandemic is ultimately at the discretion of the municipality that runs the space. Each municipality has opted to adapt certain recommendations of Alberta Health Services to create their own set of rules. We just ask that you be respectful of the rules at our facilities and those you may be visiting so we can continue to play fun and safe hockey.
